Biodun Oyebanji, former Secretary of State Government (SSG), has been sworn in as Governor of Ekiti State.
He succeeds Kayode Fayemi.
He was sworn in by Chief Justice of Ekiti State, Hon. Judge Oyewole Adeyeye at exactly 12:53 p.m. to the cheers of the gigantic crowd present on Sunday.
Dressed in a white agbada with a matching cream cap, he pledged to preserve, protect and defend as well as preserve the office of governor.
Among the dignitaries present are All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu; Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his Plateau State counterpart Simon Lalong.
Others include Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) among others.
The swearing-in took place on Sunday at the Ekiti Parapo pavilion.
Oyebanji, who was the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, was declared the winner of the Ekiti gubernatorial election with 187,057 votes, beating his two closest challengers – Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). ) which received 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which received 67,457 votes.
