Destiny 2 suppresses certain uncompetitive practices in its PvP game modes.
Destiny 2 has had it with cheaters. BattlEye has just been installed on its servers since yesterday, and this new dedicated anti-cheat software will certainly help keep cheaters away, but BattlEye is only one facet of Bungie’s strategy to defeat the threat of cheaters.
Along with BattlEye, Bungie has also updated its policies to officially ban winnings and account clawbacks. Winning trading was a big deal earlier this year when players discovered a method that allowed them to communicate with like-minded teams to redeem winnings to run flawlessly in Trials of Osiris. The Hakke Emblem Method, as it was called, led to a slew of flawless new players who reached the pinnacle of Destiny 2’s PvP game mode without even shooting.
Bungie has finally found a way around the Hakke Emblem method, and it is now officially declaring that any new winning trading method will result in player bans.
Account recovery is what Bungie calls giving someone else access to your Destiny 2 account. Certain harmless practices still won’t result in a ban, such as sharing an account with a close friend or giving access. temporary so someone can try out a certain weapon roll, but grant account access so someone else can grind PvP in order to reap rewards. is now a ground for banning (and Bungie still doesn’t recommend giving your account information to anyone).
As with earnings trading, account recovery was primarily an issue in Trials of Osiris where some players were charging money for rewards on other players’ accounts. Hopefully, with the new Season 15 Trials reward structure and new blackout policy, that won’t be a problem anymore.
In case you missed it, we’ve got a full rundown of yesterday’s Bungie showcase, including what’s coming to The Witch Queen expansion early next year.
