Man of the match: GC Zac MacMath had four incredible saves in the 57th, 65th, 77th and 97th minutes, blocking what would have been some goals. A last-minute goal by Dejan Joveljic was canceled after video review showed a foul on play by a Galaxy player, now the shutout for MacMath and a big win for Club.
Revealing stat: Marcelo Silva opened his account for the season with a goal in the 49th minute, breaking a Club goalless streak that began on April 9 and lasted 274 minutes. Coincidentally, it was also the last date anyone had scored against the Galaxy this season.
What you missed: The RioT was packed, with 20,775 fans in attendance. Today’s game was the fourth consecutive sold-out game of this short season, the first time in Club history that the first four games of a season have been sold out.
This game was a classic example of “quality over quantity”, with LA retaining possession for about two-thirds of the game and taking twice as many shots as Claret-and-Cobalt.
And after: RSL heads to Volunteer State to take on Nashville SC on Sunday, May 8, 2022. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM MT. After that, the club returns to RioT to take on Austin FC on Pride Night on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. MT.
