Hindustan Unilever recorded a growth of 16.08% in total revenue for the September quarter 2022 on a consolidated basis at Rs15,144cr. Revenue growth was 3.54% on a sequential basis.
For the quarter, Hindustan Unilever recorded the strongest growth in the homecare segment at 34%, while growth in beauty/personal care and food/refreshments was more subdued.
In terms of contribution to operating profit, it was the beauty and personal care vertical that contributed almost twice that of the home care segment.
Underlying volume growth was 4%, with 75% of verticals gaining volume and market share. Homecare recorded double-digit volume growth. The interim dividend was Rs 17 per share, subject to shareholder approval.
Consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) for the September 2022 quarter increased by 22.19% to Rs 2,665 cr due to improved operating performance and a tax credit of Rs 260 million from prior valuations, which boosted earnings due to lower tax liability.
EBITDA margins at 23.3% were strong despite input cost inflation. HUL also passed on some of the input cost savings to the end consumer. PAT margins improved to 17.60% in the September 22 quarter from 16.72% in the June 22 quarter.
Net margins were also better on a sequential basis compared to 16.28% in the June 2022 quarter.
