Similar to the Aadhaar card, driver’s license, passport and voter ID card, another essential document that every Indian citizen needs is a Permanent Account Number (PAN), which is a number of 10-character alphanumeric authentication assigned to each taxpayer in the country. . A PAN card is a warrant when it comes to opening bank accounts, facilitating KYC, benefiting from provident fund schemes and several other day-to-day services.
However, what happens if you end up losing your PAN card? Is there a way to get a new one?
There is a way for Indian citizens to get digital PAN card almost instantly by following a few simple steps set by the income tax department. This digital version of the PAN map is of equal importance and can be used for official purposes.
Here are the steps to download an e-PAN map:
Step 1: Go to the official website for electronic income tax filing. It is accessible from here.
2nd step: Look for the “Our Services” section where the “Instant e-PAN” option will be available.
Step 3: Since these steps are for those who have misplaced their original PAN card and have not downloaded an e-PAN in the past, they should click on the “Get a new e-PAN” option. Those who have already downloaded the digital PAN card can however click on the option “Check status / Download PAN”.
Step 4: Once you have clicked on the “Obtain a New e-PAN” option, select the fields as required, then click continue.
Step 5: A new page will open and ask for the 12-digit Aadhaar number, which should be entered in the required field.
Step 6: Once the Aadhaar number has been entered, the page will display a new declaration which must be clicked to continue.
Step 7: Following this, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the registered mobile phone number or the one linked to the Aadhaar card.
Step 8: After that, the OTP which was sent to the registered mobile number must be entered in the input field.
Step 9: The page will then display all the details that have been put in, and after carefully checking the information entered, the email address should be entered in the required field.
Step 10: The e-PAN will be posted soon, and it can also be printed.
