Teachers in an Ohio school district are wearing name badges that students can scan with their phones to access an ‘LGBTQ+ resource guide,’ which includes instructions on how to get an abortion and ‘s’ organize like a sex worker”.

The Hilliard City School District participates in the National Education Association’s “I’m Here” program, which encourages teachers to wear the badge. The group says the program is meant to educate teachers on how to respond to LGBT students. But one Free Washington Beacon review found that the QR code directs students to resources that describe abortion as the removal of “pregnancy tissue“, encourage gender transition without parental consent and encourage sex work.

Public schools across the country are being criticized for teaching students age-inappropriate lessons. Parents in Idaho, for example, caught the state government this month offering “porn literacy” to students. A parent sued a Maine school district for donating books containing “sexually graphic material, including depictions of queer sex”, the Free tag reported in July.

Teacher badges sparked outrage among parents in Hilliard City, ABC 6 reported earlier this month.

“The badge has a QR code that when scanned takes you to a website with extremely inappropriate information and as a parent that crosses the line,” said Hilliard City parent Lisa Chaffee.

Hilliard City Superintendent Dave Stewart said the badges are only for “adult learning”, although the QR code website provides resources aimed at K-12 students. After backlash from parents, the district advised teachers to cover the QR code on the back of the badge, according to a statement from Stewart.

A link from the online guide encourages children to seek out LGBT resources without parental approval.

“LGBTQIA+ students should be respected, affirmed, and protected in Texas schools, even if they don’t have the full support of their parents or guardians,” says “Free Being Me: A Toolkit to Protect LGBTQIA+ Student Rights. »

Another link in the guide takes students to a Publish titled “Organize like a sex worker: learn from sex worker and organizer Kate Adamo.” The message states that recognizing that “sex work is work” is “essential to ensuring everyone’s reproductive and sexual liberation”. Kate Adamo, the “sex worker” interviewed in the post, compared “transphobia or homophobia, being anti-abortion or anti-sex work” to eugenics.

Sex workers “face stigma, judgment and reluctance from the Christian right and sex work-excluded feminists (SWERFs) on the left,” Adamo said.

Another link promotes a Planned Parenthood Toronto project with videos like “Are you weird enough to be here? Spoiler alert: YES!” and “Sex acts that are not performed enough.”

The National Education Association, which created the resource guide, offers a list of books including elementary school recommendations such as The story of two dads, my princess boyand Jacob’s new dressas well as a number of other recommendations on sex and gender identity like Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dressrelating to a male child who wear a dress.

The resource guide also provides a manual to help minors understand their gender identity, which says that “the assignment of sex does not take into account one’s true gender identity”.

“Your real sex may be different from the sex a doctor assigned you, which is perfectly normal, valid, and wonderful,” the manual says.

The Hilliard City School District did not respond to a request for comment.
